KEEP YOUR HOME COMFORTABLE AND EFFICIENT THIS WINTER

At Paul Davis Restoration of Cleveland Metro, we’re looking forward to the holiday season, the changes in the weather, and the prospect of what will happen in the New Year. To improve your Chagrin Falls home’s energy efficiency during the coming weeks, follow the steps below:

  • Every month, check your furnace filters and clean them when needed. By using pleated paper filters, you can filter out most small particulates and allergens. With a clean filter, your furnace doesn’t have to work as hard.
  • Windows and doors can leak heat if they’re not properly sealed. Caulking around the exterior helps keep cold air and moisture out. Use a waterproof, flexible, and paintable caulk. Weather stripping is also a good idea, especially for doors.
  • If you have a fireplace with an open firebox, think about adding glass fireplace doors to prevent heat from escaping. You can also purchase special fireplace blankets to cover openings.
  • Does your home have high ceilings? Use a ceiling fan on a “winter” setting to distribute heat around the room, which will make the space more comfortable.
  • A programmable thermostat or one of the new “smart” thermostats will help you regulate the indoor temperature, turning up the heat when you’re about to come home and turning it down while no one is home.

We hope you’ll try out some of these tips in your home this year.Following them will help your Chagrin Falls home become more comfortable. From all of us at Paul Davis Restoration of Cleveland Metro, enjoy!
