Paul Davis & The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge

Over the last month, it’s been impossible to go to a news or social media website without seeing the latest ALS Ice Bucket Challenge video. It’s highly entertaining to watch someone dump a bucket of ice water on their head, and the joy doubles when you add the amount of goodwill this challenge has accomplished.

ALS stands for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, which is commonly called Lou Gehrig’s Disease. What is ALS? The ALS Assocation website calls it “a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord”. This disease leads to the death of motor neurons that limits the function of muscles and can later lead to paralysis. The Ice Bucket Challenge is a means for raising awareness for this disease. It begins with a challenge for a specific person to either donate a specified amount to an ALS charity or dump a bucket of water and ice over their head. After making their decision, the person then selects a new group of friends for the same challenge. (The exact specifications of each challenge may vary and many have chosen to donate and have ice water dumped on them.)

We probably don’t need to tell you that Ice Bucket Challenge videos have been a success. The ALS Association has been given over $100 million in donations from July 29 to August 29.

Paul Davis Restoration has joined millions of others in accepting the Ice Bucket Challenge. There are many franchises across the country have helped raise ALS awareness in their local communities through this challenge.

So keep an eye out for Paul Davis Ice Bucket Challenge videos as you are strolling the Internet in Chagrin Falls.
